FOUNDER · MIXING ENGINEER · FOR THE MUSIK

I’m Kori Anders, a mixing engineer whose life in music has taken me from DJing to more than two decades of making records.

THE BEGINNING

MUSIC WAS
ALWAYS THERE.

As a kid, I didn’t know where my love of music would take me. I just knew I was drawn to the way it could stir emotion, shape a mood, and transport you somewhere else entirely.

Growing up in San Jose, CA, that connection to music eventually led me to DJing. Long before I understood mixing, engineering or what happened inside a recording studio, I was developing an instinct that would stay with me — identifying the emotion at the heart of the music and letting that guide everything else.

THE LEAP

I CHOSE
MUSIC.

My path to becoming a mixing engineer wasn't exactly a straight one.

I graduated from Morehouse College with a degree in finance and moved to Chicago, where I was preparing to begin law school. About a month before classes started, I made a decision that changed the course of my life: I walked away from law school and enrolled in Full Sail University's Recording Arts program.

That leap eventually led me into Atlanta’s music scene and a career that has now spanned more than two decades. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to work on records that traveled far beyond the rooms where we made them.

THE WORK

THE RECORD
COMES FIRST.

The work has earned Grammy recognition and Gold and Platinum certifications — milestones I'm grateful for, but never the reason I started doing this.

The reason has always been the record.

THE PHILOSOPHY

MUSIC IS
SACRED TO ME.

REVEAL IT.
DON'T REPLACE IT.

Over time, I've come to understand that mixing is as much about judgment as it is about technique. Knowing when to push something further, when to pull something back, and when the best decision is to leave it alone.

Every record calls for something different. The challenge is knowing what it needs, and having the experience and restraint to make those decisions with intention.

Clarity without sterility. Impact without sacrificing emotion. Low end that moves. Vocals that connect. Depth, dimension, and polish — all in service of the music.

After more than twenty years of mixing records, that remains at the heart of how I approach every song: understanding the artist’s vision, the feeling behind it, and bringing both fully to life.

Some of those records have gone on to become the soundtracks to millions of people’s lives around the world.

I DON'T TAKE
THAT LIGHTLY.
